We all have an individual responsibility to be prepared for emergencies. Do you know how much food, water, and other supplies are necessary to sustain you and your family for at least 72 hours? What are some of the supplies you should have in an emergency kit? Do you know how to prepare an emergency plan for you and your family? Do you know the risks in the Capital Region? This website will provide answers to these questions as well as helpful resources to prepare you and your family for any disaster.
This website is a collaboration between local government emergency programs in the Capital Region which is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island and is comprised of 13 municipalities and three electoral areas. The site is designed to be an ongoing source of emergency preparedness information to residents, resulting in increased resilience on a local level.
The CRD's Local Government Emergency Program Advisory Commission (LG EPAC), has completed the "Modelling of Potential Tsunami Inundation Limits and Run-Up" for the Capital Region. The results of this model will provide valuable information in regards to potential tsunami risk. Read more
